I am following up on the previous blog entry i have wrote. I don't even listen popular singers that are currently on the radio chart. Most of them have that passion or wiling to do something for the music. In fact the way i see and hear them as well as their songs, they are merely putting their own expectation as much they think that it is their best. I always believe that singers should give his best to all go out singing until the fans and listeners enjoyed. Good song or good voice is simply not enough. That is why i don't listen Ayumi..She is the type of where she treat music as money opportunity for her. I understand her and her songs are not in my list either. She said it herself when she doesn't mind doing anything as long as there is money opportunity for her and her recording company. Nowadays music industry isn't that good now. If you are listening those half-assed songs, you are simply contended. That is good. Some people who are looking something special will not be contended with just this kind of music standard. Let me recount the singers i respect for their efforts. They are Eason Chan, Joey Yung and Nicholas Tse. I do listen songs when i happen to hear songs from movies and animes. It attract me with unbelievable effort to make music that intergrate with movies and animes.

Let me write some profile of Eason Chan and Joey Yung so that you can see why i respect their attitude as singers.

Joey Yung:
In 1995 at the young age of 15, Joey was participating in many singing contests, including the Big Echo Karaoke Singing Contest, in which she was given the opportunity to be an artist of Go East Entertainment Co. Ltd.. However, her talent did not win the recognition of the company. Go East ended the contract with Joey soon after the song 'The First Time I Want to be Drunk', which is the theme song of a movie, was recorded. The song is Joey's only song produced by Go East.

Afterwards, she continued with school while also working as a clerk and helping her mother in managing the business of a fashion boutique. She was later introduced to Golden Pony Records Co. Ltd. by an ex-colleague of Go East. Not long after she joined the company, it withdrew its business in Hong Kong. Joey's singing career was once again terminated. A couple of years after, she followed Roman Tam, the godfather of Canto-pop, to learn singing.
It may be insufficient. What i know is that she tried to fulfill her dream as singer and working hard to become one. Thanks to EEG, she became one producing some brilliant songs i liked to listen again and again!

Eason Chan:
I can't find the profile i used to read. It was bloody amazing that he went against his father's wish to be like him. He quit studying degree in UK and went back to Hong Kong. He participated a singing contest and won the first prize. EEG signed him as singer. His father told him that his career would not last long and it was not easy to be Andy Lau. At this point he told his father to give him few years and see where he stand now. Amazingly, he gave all his best to sing songs until he is one of the hottest cantopop singer today. Despite of his not-so-attractive look, he still work hard to sing beautifully. That is where he earn my respect. Beside that the moment fans egged at Nicholas, he hug Nicholas and told him to do his best. Today, Eason and Nicholas are best friend for each other.

After reading the interview with Kevin Keegan with UK media, Chronicle Sport the Newcastle United darling, his opinion earn my respect. He want attacking brand onto his managing team despite of unable to have any coaching badges. And yet today people still tell him that they simply love that newcastle team he used to manage. Kevin Keegan retired from professional soccer scene but he is now managing soccer circus with his philsophy to entertain people.

The Last King of Scotland(United Kingdom Movie 2006)

Synopsis:
In the early 1970s, Nicholas Garrigan, a young semi-idealistic Scottish doctor, comes to Uganda to assist in a rural hospital. Once there, he soon meets up with the new President, Idi Amin, who promise a golden age for the African nation. Garrigan hits it off immediately with the rabid Scotland fan, who soon offers him a senior position in the national health department and becomes one of Amin's closest advisers. However as the years pass, Garrigan cannot help but notice Amin's increasingly erratic behavior that grows beyond a legitimate fear of assassination into a murderous insanity that is driving Uganda into bloody ruin. Realizing his dire situation with the lunatic leader unwilling to let him go home, Garrigan must make some crucial decisions that could mean his death if the despot finds out

Opinions:
Nice story how real-life dictator lived. I am quite impressed with the story as well as feel sorry for this young man who was merely looking for something different from his homeland, Scotland as well as his family. Living in unknown foreign land for few years, he became wiser and regret moving away from Scotland and wished that his father will be there to nag him with all kind of responsbility.

Rating:7/10
Bonus:1)Great story and viewpoint on this dictator 2)serious filming out there

Let me quote most of the comments during Squat6 interview
"Nicholas Tse was destined for a roller-coaster life in the public eye. The son of legendary actor Patrick Tse and soft-core porn actress Deborah Li was dubbed Hong Kong's "bad boy of pop" because of his less-than-wholesome escapades, from crashing cars and assaulting a photographer to becoming mainland mega-diva Faye Wong's toy boy.

He tells Squat what it is like being jeered onstage, going to prison and smashing guitars."

"Life's a Bitch."
Being a multi-selling megastar hasn’t always been mass adoration and adulation.

When he started performing live at 16, Nicholas Tse heard someone shout, "Get the fuck off the stage".

"I couldn't hear jack what I was singing. I couldn't hear one word, because the crowds were booing so much," he recalls.

Despite the barrage lasting three years, he hung in there.

"My assistants were actually the ones who were dropping the tears. But I believed in myself. And I believed in music."

The award-winning singer and actor reveals that being born to a prestigious famous family has its perks and drawbacks.

"Some of the media say that I got into the business because of my parents. I do not doubt any chances of that because it was really a big thing when I first came out, being the son of my dad and mum," he says.

"[People thought] I did not have to work hard. I did not have to do such and such. In their minds, whenever I performed or did movies, it was like I was supposed to know everything.

“I was supposed to do good. If I do 80%, it would be knocked down to 45 because 'he was supposed to know'. Why am I supposed to know? Because I was born in a family that was in the business?"

Tse learnt to be tenacious at an early age, thanks to his father’s fame.

"There was this time when my parents had a lot of entertainer friends over. When I was young, I was very scared of the dark, so I'd never close my door when I was sleeping. They [the friends] had a chat with my dad.

“When my dad went down to the basement for mahjong or to socialize with the other friends, these friends that he was talking to previously talked shit about my dad.

“I went to the door. I heard all the stuff. And I swore to myself: When I grow up, no matter what I do, I'm going to go straight out.”

Fall of a Star
"That's life. Life's a bitch," says the 26-year-old of the tough times in his life so far.

One of those was spending a fortnight in prison (just two months after getting the World Music Award in Monte Carlo for best-selling Chinese artist), in 2002, to await trial for perverting the course of justice.

Tse's black Ferrari 360 Modena crashed on Cotton Tree Drive in Central, Hong Kong. In the original police report, Tse's chauffeur Shing Kwok Ting was listed as the driver when the accident happened.

However, the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) revealed, in further investigation, that Tse was driving. The prosecution claimed the singer had telephoned his chauffeur immediately after the crash, who offered to take the blame and then settled the matter with a corrupt cop, Lau Chi Wai.

According to the singer's defence team in a statement submitted to the court—Tse refused to testify in person—when Tse was arrested by the ICAC 20 days after the accident, he admitted that he was driving the car when it crashed and only walked away because no police officers came. He was apparantly in a hurry to catch a plane in Thailand.

Despite the fact that, three days after the crash, Tse was still publicly blaming Shing.

All three men were put in the dock. Shing pleaded guilty and was sentenced to four months in prison. The other two pleaded not guilty, but were found guilty. Lau was given a six month prison sentence and Tse was ordered to do 240 hours of community service.

Even now, Tse denies he was part of the collusion: "Why did I lie about crashing my car in 2002? To be honest, I didn't. Still, up until today, I think it was media pressure."

"No one has ever been judged in a courtroom while there were a few thousand fans outside the courtroom. That makes a difference," he says. "It makes the judge a little more power-happy. It makes the courtroom a little circus."

The Circus
The trial was a media circus, with the world's press and thousands of fans horded outside the courthouse.

Outside the prison where Tse was held, paparazzi gathered to take shots of him in prison uniform as he was led out for daily exercise. Headlines screamed that the prodigal son was now a disgrace to Hong Kong entertainment.

"Did I affect Hong Kong economy that much? If I did, I might as well start World War Three, or world peace. If I can do both, does that make me Hitler or Napoleon?" Tse asks.

Press revelled in kicking the rich kid. Reverse snobbery that was unjustified, Tse adds: "I see myself as no different to any other kid on the street. I was the rich and famous kid who crashed the Ferrari. Famous I was. But rich?"

He reveals: "I never had a new car. My first car was new, but all the other cars I had: they were Ferraris, they were good cars, but nobody knew they were third-hand, fourth-hand. One of my Ferraris was actually cheaper than a new Audi. Well, only I knew that. I didn't have to let the whole world know."

"I lived in a 400 feet [square] room for three years when I first started in the industry and worked my way up. But I don't mind, because that gives me a challenge to break through even harder."

Prison
"When I went in, the jail manager said: 'You were just bait. You were the experimental mouse. They had to show people celebrities do not get a leeway of getting around the law'. Well maybe it was me," Tse says.

"There are too many whys. I know from the bottom of my heart, I did not deserve coming in here. It was just an experience for me. It was not punishment."

During his prison time, Tse remained unremorseful about events.

"Did it prove good thinking time? No, it didn't," he admits.

"I was only thinking how I could act to be well in front of my mother and my father, and how I'd failed them, and made them worry. How I worried my girlfriend [pop starlet Cecilia Cheung]. Not about the car crash."

In hindsight, he prefers to focus on his own tribulation.

"I take prison as an experience so nobody can ever say again that this kid came out of nowhere, went through nothing and got his fame and glory. No, I went through something.

Awards
Despite winning a fair few in his time, Tse doesn't have a high opinion about the Hong Kong music industry being so focused around industry awards. He stands by his words by refusing to attend ceremonies.

"It's bullshit," he says simply.

"Having me sing 55 seconds for getting an award. Or not getting an award only because I did not attend the ceremony. Is that fair? If I wanted to get an award, I'd go and sit there for hours and I would get up to four awards per ceremony.

"I see that as a pain in the ass sitting in what I call a butcher's market. Everybody is on sale. All artists are on sale."

Tse refuses to play the fame game, and tells those who believe that his marriage to Cheung, in 2006, was a publicity stunt to "go to the church, and just kill yourself there".

He says: "That's a really wrong way to get promoted because you're marrying someone and that's for life."

Smashing Guitars
Tse's energetic stage performances are often controversial, especially for a Hong Kong audience used to squeaky-clean entertainment.

"Maybe I offended someone speaking the truth," he says.

"I was wearing big jeans, sunglasses, big T-shirts like kids now do. But I was criticized that I was an uneducated kid because I was wearing big jeans, showing my boxers. I only stepped a little faster fashion-wise, 'cos I did that 10 years ago.

"Now it's hard to find someone who actually wears tight jeans instead of big, oversized jeans. What the hell is wrong with that? Maybe it was just wrong timing."

So, how many guitars has he smashed over the years in concert?

"You know, really not that many. Maybe six or seven," he admits.

"Look at the Rolling Stones, Kiss and Nirvana. They smash drums, for God's sake. One kid smashing a guitar in 1997 does not make a fucking difference.

"It's not like the Hiroshima bomb-ed Hong Kong. It was just another smashed guitar by another kid on stage. Just because Hong Kong audiences were not used to seeing that. Well, see something new."

All you can see what he say is simply why i listen his music due to his choice and taste on music. Frankly, i was surprised to read new whereabouts on his jail time.
I know the best because i was nearly like this before but just this close.
However it is slightly different level of seriousness.

I hope that this piece of interview teach people that the path of being celebrity is not always rich thing or having endless choice of branded clothes.
It is great to know young Nicholas trying to confront people who bad mouthed his father behind his back.

The period he was getting hotter and hotter property in entertainment industry was his best transition especially on the songs such as Jade Butterfly. I hope that his long break on music industry will revitalise him

Synopsis

The story revolves around drug trafficking with Andy Lau as the major heroin dealer, grooming his successor, Daniel Wu, to take over the business. The film, financed by England, US, China, Hong Kong and Singapore is produced by Peter Chan.

Opinions:
It is quite good movie.I can safely say that this movie is good benchmarking for this year movie but it is short from the standard of Infernal Affairs.
The scenario how drug dealers and drug addicts seem to be realistic as it may happen in the real life behind your eyes.

Rating:7/10
Bonus:1)Big A-list actors likes of Andy Lau, Louis Koo and Daniel Wu 2)Realistic scenes 3)Louis Koo did excellent job of impersonate himself as drug addict

I am getting very tired each day as i am not having enough sleep.
UOL Mathematics Bridging Course brought me a lot of doubts on certain topics and questions although it is great to learn. I am still excitied to progress further!!!!!! AJA AJA!Afternoon DMSFT schedule struck me that afteroon schedule will result havning too many project assignments. Comparing semester 2 and semester 4(both of them are held in afternoon), there is no question about it.

Following up the previous blog entry i have wrote about Arthur and my conversation, we strongly believe that we can do away without superitious, culture and religion. WHY? Who care what you do?Although such holiday like Christmas Day, Chinese New Year will encourage family members to meet each other, nobody care what you do end of the time. This thing can be invaild if you have very happy and united family. Debate can go on forever and it never close easily because there are a lot of voids to answer for.

Meanwhile i had my door lock, letter lock and padlock changed at the cost of estimated of $100 plus. There is a couple who offer the services to change door lock and letter lock and town council in my home area recommend them to me. Friendly and kind attitude struck me that they are good family as if they care each other and love each other. I am quite impressed and surprised to see a lady working with him. I assume that this lady is his wife. Furthermore, he was friendly to take care of my things and myself before i left for school.

About one month ago,i was reading an interesting thing about Malaysian people saying that Singapore will sink in few years time.It sound as if it is some sort of 'Japan Sinks' movie. This conversation reminded me of a animation serie called One Piece where there is a island called Water7. It is very very small island but best of best ship yard in the world. It survive by building tall buildings for people to have shelter there each time the sea level increase and increase for certain point of day and month. It really brought me tears when Straw Hat crew tried to save each other as the sea level went sky high that the islanders couldn't believe it. It was one hell piece of good story. I simply never forgot about it.

Ikebukuro West Gate Park(池袋ウエストゲートパーク)(Japanese Drama 2000)
Synopsis:
Living in an area known for its juvenile crime, 21 year-old Makoto has become a member of a youth gang called the G-Boys. Known for his cool head and ability to get things done, Makoto becomes a key trouble-shooter for the gang by diffusing tense situations and keeping his friends out of harm's way. However, the death of his girlfriend and an escalating turf war with a rival gang threaten to be more than Makoto can handle.

Opinions:
At first, i was bored with episode 1 but i was perked by youthful actions from youngsters and early 20s people. A bit character of Makoto remind me of myself especially when i am not very concerned in ogling girls and most of the stuffs.
In this show, a unknown girl appeared in his life and she began involved in most of his life. Knowing that he will be happy around her, he began to value her more.
Like him, he has only mother in his family as well as me although i have sister.
In fact, the closet family member i feel is my mother. I really envy this Makoto's mother because she was always there to play with him unlike my mother.
Each time his mother attempt to cheer or poke fun at him, he pretend to throw fit. In opposite way, my mother nags me for silly reason, i do pretend to throw fit in attempt to stop it.*grin* It is really so alike in some ways hence i continued watching till the ending.

Rating:6/10

Bonus:Meaningful ending where people need to realise that violence is not worthwhile without any sense.

300(Hollywood Movie 2007)

Synopsis:
It is spring, 480 BC Persian King Xerxes, continuing his fathers, Darius, master plan to conquer the Hellenic city-states, arrives in Hellas. The previous Persian invasion and diplomatic attempts have already turned most northern Hellas tribes and states to the Persian side. But the people of Athens and Sparta, the largest Hellenic powers at the time, feel quite insulted by the Persian emissaries requesting their surrender to Xerxes and slay them. In Sparta, King Leonidas consults the local oracle, which gives two options: either a spartan king will have to be sacrificed or Sparta will be burned to the ground. A year earlier (481, BC) a panhellenic consortium of all southern city-states have already recognized the superiority of the spartan army (the best organized and trained army at the time) and have announced King Leonidas supreme commander of the combined Hellenic army. It is then decided that a small force should block Xerxes' way to southern Hellas in the Thermopylae passage. This passage was at that time 12 meters wide. The great historian Herodotus, possibly exaggerating, states that there were 1700000 Persians(their true number could be anywhere around 100000 and 1000000) against 7000 Hellenic hoplites and slaves, including the 300 men of the spartan king elite guard. King Xerxes waited for 4 days for the Hellenes to be frightened and eventually surrender and was quite astonished by his opponents complete apathy who were following their daily program practicing and making their hair! After that Xerxes tried to convince Leonidas to give up their position, kneel before him and live on as a local governor under Xerxes. King Leonidas replied "molon lave", which means "Come and get it". Then the 3 days battle begun with the 300 Spartans, and 700 thespians (the other Hellenes where sent by Leonidas to protect passages to their flanks) slaying thousands of Persians with minimal loses. The whole Persian campaign would have fail if there wasn't Efialtes who showed Xerxes a secret passage to the Hellenic flanks. After a final battle lead by king Xerxes himself the Hellenic force was completely slain and their heroism and glory was written forever in history. From the beginning of the battle the Hellenes buried their dead in the spot they fell dead. After the battle signs where made for the dead of each Hellenic faction. For the pelloponisians generally (including the 300 Spartans) the sign reads 'Hereby 4000 thousand pelloponisians fought 30 millions), for the 300 Spartans(lakaedaemonians) especially the sign reads 'Oh foreigner tell the lakaedaemonians that we are buried here obeying their laws' meaning that they never hesitated and never retreated from the enemy. The impact of the battle was enormous for both sides. The Persians' morale dropped to zero and the Hellenes lost their fear for the Persian conqueror and organized their defense. After several successful battles the Hellenes ultimately defeated the Persian army and repelled their invasion in the Battle of plataea in 479 BC

Opinions:
It is simply brilliant CGI shots and great battle scenario. I simply admire how Sparta stood against the largest force Persia ever gather. In normal sense, anyone will bulk out and give in their demands. But not this king of Sparta,Leonidas, he has some sort of sleeves to win the battle with his 300 men up against uncountable forces from Persia. I am great admirer of small teams challenging against bigger team. I will do the same as long as there are variable and possible options to use.

Rating:9/10(it would have 10/10 if only the director make it more amazing.Sadly there are some people who are disappointed with it)

Bonus:1)Superb CGI shots 2)Superb piece of history 3)Cleverly pick all 300 men that have muscles all over the bodies 4)Great Morale of story.

200 Pounds Beauty( Mi-nyeo-neun Gwae-ro-wo )(Korean Movie 2006)

Synopsis:
Hanna is a lip sync vocalist for Ami, the famous Korean pop singer. Even though she is always ignored because of her appearance, she has been a bright and lighthearted girl until Amy humiliates her in front of Sang-jun, her secret love. At last she makes a decision of a lifetime to have plastic surgery all over her body. Her unrequited love gets any return?

Opinions:
ROAR!!!It is one hell excellent piece of the film in your mind. As per synopsis, it is really saddening to see women to take plastic surgery for better life or better outcome of a certain moment. Indeed,it is not easy to be singer star. It is for sure that once you go in entertainment industry, you have to give all of your efforts to do work. The more famous you are, the less free time you can relax yourself. Hence, free time is truly luxary to famous stars.

Rating:7/10
Bonus:1)Good story about this woman 2)Just before the ending, there was a moment that is tear-breaking to some people.

Goong S(궁S)(Korean Drama 2007)

Synopsis:

So they go out to find the secret prince and finally find Lee hoo (played by Se7en), who has been living outside the palace.

Lee hoo is the son of a prince and his mother who died early, had departed with his father and left the palace, hiding the fact that she was already pregnant. He does not know that he possesses royal blood and has lived, working as a delivery boy at a chinese restaurant. Although usually, he has a prince disease, he had never dreamt of entering the palace and receiving royal lessons.

Lee hoo, the unbelievable no 1 successor to the throne and the perfect Lee Joon (played by kang doo) will bring tension to the drama as they fight over the position. After Lee Hoo enters the palace, an important place will be the royal academy. It is a place for members of the royal family as well as descendents of wealthy families.

The drama will also be about the romance between the characters

Opinions:
I was thinkng it will be the same as previous one but to my disappointment,it is just another story!Actually by the time i continue watching it,i find that it is getting interesting when there is a competition to take the position of royal prince in order to silence the worries of people in Korea.
Hey,i think this lead female character remind me of Adeline beause of similarity of behaviour, character and choice of attire.*LOL*

Rating:6/10
Bonus:1)Good plot

Yesterday morning,i talked with Arthur as he could not sleep(UK is at night). We talked a lot of world politics and he gave me a lot of his opinions and view on politics. It is very insightful for me. I can see why he can not live in Singapore at all after tasting the life and culture in UK.
One thing for sure is that you cannot play with such governing politics especially when you have no clear-cut thinking. If you don't know, it is better to do something ordinary rather than harming yourself or creating unnecessary problems globally.

Frankly speaking, i am largely educated by reading books and playing civilization game. With these actions,i generally learnt how they really work out and as well as offer what kind of advatanges and disadvantages serve for us and global world.

It seem to be fact that many of Singaporeans are thinking of money while most of Westerners are thinking of improving themselves or learning new things.
Recently i read Straits Times during the first of Chinese New Year. The article about a few of young students from China coping with English in public secondary schools. What impressed me is picking English from nothing to established english foundation. One of them has confidence to speak in English and is able to say a little complex word which Singaporeans don't use frequently. The another one who was girl tried so hard to get her English right by reading acclaimed American-based magazines after her teacher told her that Victorian writing style was outdated.
Both of them manage to obtain A for English subject.

Let see what Nicholas is doing during past few months this year.
During February, Nicholas and his wife went to Vancouver to visit his grandparents there for Chinese New Year.
On March, he attend TVB's serie premiere

Hong Kong star Nicholas Tse ®, actress Ada Choi (M) and actor Liao Weixiong attended the premiere of the new season of Hong Kong's TVB travel program "On the Road" Friday. The three stars each told their experiences traveling in different countries on the show.
Meanwhile,Nicholas attend EEG's spring dinner.

His mother and wife were seen in the street at Hong Kong.

This month, Nicholas and his work colleague(both EEG employees),Gilian will work in a new serial drama.

Sadly, i gave up most of my money i have kept for chair and dvd budget to my mother to buy a new laptop with her support as in sponsering.
This time,my new laptop is generally better than my former laptop except mutiple connectors. I can see why my former laptop, A8JA is excellent laptop for middle budget. New laptop i bought is business style with slightly better specification over my former laptop. I make sure that new laptop must have vista pre-installed so that the spending on new laptop will be justified.

I have browse throughout Vista Business as laptop was delievered to my home yesterday as the store do not have stock inside hence offering small discount and free delivery especially when i originally ask for V1JP with 160GB hdd without swapping bay but they have is V1JP with 120gb and swapping bay which is few dollars more than the former.
Incredible,i always love having big LCD screen..
Bigger lcd screen does justify for your gaming experience. I do not believe in compromising the budget and i always want to get the product that give great usage experience with resonable price tag.
